Created by Erle Stanley Gardner
Perry Mason is a fictional Los Angeles defense lawyer. The Perry Mason character was created by prolific detective fiction writer Erle Stanley Gardner, who was an attorney himself and a stickler for the rule of law.
Paisano Productions produced the original show and it aired on CBS from September 1957 to May 1966. Veteran actor Raymond Burr portrayed Perry Mason, America's favorite television lawyer. Barbara Hale played his Girl Friday, the beautiful and resourceful Della Street.
The Perry Mason TV show was set in Los Angeles, California, and real-life street names and locations were frequently used. The shows featured establishing shots of several well-known buildings, including the Los Angeles City Hall, the Los Angeles County Court House, and the Hall of Justice building. All of these buildings are still standing, though the Hall of Justice has been converted to condos.
